I Have a Confession to Make…

There’s something that’s been weighing on my mind for quite some time now.
Truth be told, the only reason I’m posting it here is that I was caught “in the act” by my wife; and now I’ve been shamed into telling the whole world, (or at least whomever stumbles across this website).

Ok, here goes….
Whenever I’m drinking anything that I deem to be a decent bottle of wine (I deem “decent” to be most of my choices over $25 retail), something unusual comes over me. I really can’t explain it…I think it might just be my inner wine snob fighting to get out!

<Deep breath> Here’s my confession…

The recycling day for our neighborhood is Wednesday, and when it comes time to put out the big blue recycling bin on our curbside (containing all the weeks wine bottles and other recyclables), I do something very strange. On a side note, I would like to point out that we’re the only people on the street that have 2, that’s right 2 blue recycling bins that are usually full to the brim each week!
I always (without even thinking about it) make sure that I have all the “decent” bottles of wine at the top of the tub, labels facing outwards, just so that everyone on my street can see what amazing taste in fine fine wine the residents of 3932 have.
I know!!!! I know!!! I need help, right!?!?! Please don’t judge me on this!!! I’m actually quite a nice guy when it comes down to it!!!

I can only imagine what the trash collectors are thinking!!! I’m certain it’s something along the lines of; What an idiot!!! I can’t believe this guy!!! Well the hell!!! 2002 was an awful year for Chateauneuf du Pape!!! No room for the milk. Why would he be wanting to tell people that’s he’s drinking that!?!?! And as for the ‘04 Gevrey Chambertain, don’t even get me started!!!”

Well, I’m glad I got that off my chest. I’m currently looking into counseling for my addiction. I tried numerous times to call the nice people at Intervention, and tell them about my affliction; but I think they must have been having phone trouble, as their line just seemed to go dead. I just hope that posting my dirty laundry on my website can somehow overcome my inner wine snob. If you do anything similar I would like to know about it! Maybe we can setup a WSA (Wine Snobs Anonymous) meeting every Wednesday morning…
