Dom Perignon has filed a false-advertising lawsuit suit, seeking to end a competitor’s claim that its Champagne is: “The No. 1 Rated Champagne in the World.”
Moët Hennessy USA (the makers of Dom) say Armand de Brignac “is intentionally misleading consumers” about the quality of its bubbly, a champagne highly favored by hip-hop star Jay-Z, and also allegedly helped spark the notorious SoHo club brawl between Chris Brown and Drake earlier this year.
The lawsuit by Dom alleges that the “Ace of Spades” — also known as Brut Gold — is the only Armand de Brignac champagne to be rated number one by FINE Champagne Magazine, “and that rating occurred in 2010.”
Court papers allege that the Armand de Brignac champagne rating has slipped in subsequent tastings, down to #23 in 2011 and #22 in 2012.

My Thoughts…
I can’t even begin to tell you how much I love this! It seems to me that SOMEONE might be a little jealous over SOMEONE’S new found fame!
I remember not too long ago when champagne brands were fighting to keep rappers away from their bubbly, in fears that they’re damaging their brands. Now they’re realizing these “hippity-hop” stars might actually yield a little more influence than they had previously believed and they don’t like it!
Maybe Moët Hennessy (whose other brands include Moët & Chandon, Veuve Clicquot and Chandon) should focus a little more on the quality (and subsequent marketing) of their own product, rather than worrying about other brands; because last time I checked, I haven’t seen Armand de Brignac “end capped” (at a discount) at every big box retailer in the U.S. Just throwing that out there!
