Top 10 Tips for Wineries (and Other Businesses) on Using Twitter – Part 2

This is part 2 of my article aimed at helping businesses and wineries specifically get a handle on the little blue bird that is Twitter. Part 1 can be found here. Please not that I don’t claim to be any type of “social media guru”, (there are already far too many of them coming out of the woodwork right now), but what follows is what I have learnt from my own personal experiences…

This Week in Wine…4/23/11

Industry attacks psychologist for flawed taste test The wine industry has attacked Richard Wiseman, a psychologist at Hertfordshire University, for claiming that most people can’t distinguish between cheap and fine wine, but “fool themselves into thinking expensive wines taste better.” So there has been a little controversy over the methodology this guy used to determine that 578 people couldn’t tell the difference between wine priced at £3.49 compared to wine at  £29.99. People are going…

Top 10 Tips for Wineries (and Other Businesses) Using Twitter – Part 1

This is another Social Media article that I have been meaning to write for at least 6 months now. The reason that I haven’t gotten around to it sooner is that it takes take so bloody long to put my thoughts into words! I’m probably going to start transitioning these type of articles to a separate website (I just purchased KrisChislett.com a couple of days ago), but for now I am happy to host them…

This Week in Wine…

Who’s in the Wine Business Now? The Food Network! The Food Network this week hosted a preview sampling of their new wine collection called entwine. A partnership with the California winery Wente Vineyards, it’s a venture 18 months in the making and scheduled to hit the shelves in August. I have no idea why I started with this story…oh well! No word on whether he’s going…

Keeping It Kosher!

I had the chance last night to taste a couple of extremely impressive Kosher wines, and I thought it was worth sharing. But first, a little background info… My wife works for Underwood Jewelers here in Jacksonville, and this is the second time I have attended a company Kosher BBQ hosted by Moshe and Joel Klein. My fingers are crossed that this is going to be a permanent fixture on the Underwood’s event calendar!   Moshe…

Of all the wines they could have chosen to counterfeit, why would they choose Jacob’s Creek? Isn’t that like faking $1 bills?     Survey finds most wine not consumed with meals A new survey of top wine drinkers confirms suspicions that the majority of wine is drunk without food. Why did it take a…

Frisbee Golf and Wine – As It Turns Out, a Great Combination!

I’d never even heard of Frisbee Golf until a couple of years ago. As it turns out it’s a perfect Sunday activity! The basic premise is kind of the same as regular golf, except you are using Frisbees, and the holes are metal cage-type nets. 18 holes, lowest score wins. Oh, and it helps if you bring some wine!

What it Takes to Become Featured

Over the previous months, and increasingly over the coming months, you are going to see more and more wineries becoming featured on this website. I have spent and continue to spend a huge amount of time working on this site and its social media accounts (and I’m having great fun doing it) . I therefore thought it was worth explaining the criteria a winery needs to meet in order to officially become featured, and…
