Wine Industry Insight has reported that Crushpad, the DIY winemaking service that enabled budding wine enthusiasts to make their own vino is closing its doors. Wine Industry Insight goes on to state that several reliable sources confirm that Crushpad was urgently seeking $500,000 last week in last-ditch hopes to stay afloat after Bill Foley (the company’s main investor) decided he would no longer underwrite any more of the operation’s mounting losses.

All Chateau Lafite Wine Bottles to Carry Prooftag.

Chateau Lafite Rothschild have stated to the Decanter magazine that all bottles of its wine from the 2009 vintage onwards will use Prooftag anti-fraud seals. Bioalloy, a research group from the laboratories at the University of Western Australia, have developed a formula to grow seamless garments through wine’s fermentation process. Called Micro’be’, the “fermented fashion project” investigates the “practical and cultural biosynthesis of clothing” that the scientists expect will change traditional interactions between clothing and the body.
