Access to the Court Of Master Sommeliers has always been strictly regulated and cameras have never been allowed anywhere near the exam…. until now!
“Somm” is the story of four Sommeliers attempting to pass the prestigious and extremely rigorous Master Sommelier Exam, a test with one of the lowest pass rates in the world.
Getting the title of "Master Sommelier" is not something that can happen overnight. In order to qualify, one must take an incredibly challenging test — one that requires students to identify wines from all over the world. Thus, preparation for this exam takes years, and a lot of dedication. In the yet-to-be-released film "Somm," Director Jason Wise filmed students planning to take this test. Wise took two years, and traveled to six countries, to shoot the film. Check out the trailer below:

My Thoughts…
Ok, so before I even clicked “play” on the video, I had already convinced myself that this movie was going to bore the general population to death…..but then after watching it……WOW! Granted, it’s probably not for everyone, but if you want a real insight into the hard work that goes into preparing for the Court of Master Sommeliers exam, this movie is your best bet! It brings me out in a cold sweat just watching this short trailer….

So, I assume “Certified Sommelier” is not the same as “Master Sommelier”. Will you be taking the tes?

After the Certified Sommelier there’s Advanced and then Master. I’ve been considering the Advanced for a while, but it would be at least take a year or two of studying just to get to that level.
