Yet Another Thanksgiving Wine Article!?!?

Sure! Why not! Thanksgiving comes but once a year, and wine writers around the world rejoice at the chance to write ANOTHER article on the subject on pairing wine with this festive meal!!!
Ok, so maybe my English sarcasm is getting the better of me. However even I can’t ignore the fact that on Thanksgiving their is by far the largest volume of wine consumed in the U.S. than any other day of the year!

I’m going to approach the subject a little differently than the rest, and instead of telling you what to drink, I’m going to show you what I will be drinking on Thanksgiving. You can make up your own mind up from there!

Seven Deadly Zins

Zinfandel is a great option for Thanksgiving, full-bodied and ups the intensity from most other red wines, while still maintaining a balancing effect with many traditional Thanksgiving side dishes. The Seven Deadly Zins is a great wine choice for those looking for a heartier red with the capacity to accommodate spice, bitter and sweet flavor profiles. Seven Deadly is readily available from most larger wine stores.

Seven Heavenly Chardonnay

The obvious choice for pairing with turkey is Chardonnay; unfortunately or fortunately as the case may be we are not having Turkey this year! I know! Sacrilege, right!?!? The chef (my mother-in-law) has decided to mix it up and go with a prime rib roast.
Saying that, the Seven Heavenly Chardonnay is a wine that has the ability to stand by itself or be paired with turkey and the trimmings.

Earthquake Zinfandel

What better wine to pair with a prime rib roast than Zinfandel?
Much more aggressive (as the name suggests) than the Seven Deadly Zins, the Earthquake Zinfandel is bold, dark, rich and about as American as a wine can get!

Belle Glos Meiomi Pinot Noir

A holiday favorite for Thanksgiving is Pinot Noir, more subtle in character than most other red wines, it’s guaranteed not to overpower roast turkey, and will compliment cranberry sauce perfectly. I’m bringing the Belle Glos Meiomi Pinot, one of my personal favorites.

Conundrum White Blend

Picking a wine to pair with Thanksgiving Dinner isn’t as tough as it’s made out to be; keeping everyone happy is the problem! Luckily Conundrum is a great crowd pleaser. A touch of sweetness, but not overly done, Conundrum is a year-round favorite.

Agreed, the Conundrum is a pretty flexible wine when it comes to food pairing. The only problem I have is that it’s so hard to drink whites when the weather is so cold!
